15 Great things to do for all children of travelers in the Maldives
They are many things to do for all types of travelers in the Maldives. Regardless of whether you are looking for a relaxing vacation or some adventure, the Maldives are unbelievable. I bet you’ve been dreaming about going to the Maldives for years. The white-sand beaches, palm trees, clear waters, and unbelievable sunsets must attract you. Call it Internet power! Call it internet power!
Relaxing in the Maldives is known to be the perfect place to enjoy holidays and honeymoon. I certainly did a lot when I was visiting. This paradise on earth, however, has much more to offer and is suitable for every type of tourist. In this article, I summarize all the things that anyone can enjoy in the Maldives: the adventure searchers and honeymooners, but also those that want to experience more locally will find lots of inspiration here.
15 Amazing Maldives Doing
One of the factors that I love to swim is that we can’t talk. It’s me and my ears’ water sound and my mouth’s taste. I also grew up by the sea, in Sardinia, and I didn’t go to the beach a weekend in the summer. Snorkeling is a favorite of me and it was rumorous that the Maldives are reaching a completely different level.
The rumor was right, I suppose. One of Maldives’ greatest attractions is its naval life and snorkeling is one of the most beautiful things in the Maldives. You will spot an unbelievable range of colored fish and corals during moments of the waterfall. It can’t get any better.
Resorts like Hudhuranfushi Adaaran offer water flying, for example. In the Maldives, it’s one of the fun things to do and I recommend you try – although you may not be able to stand up for a long time.
Flying water requires a lot of strength, you can and may not have, in the legs and abs. It is frankly a whirlwind. It’s certainly what to do for a good laugh in the Maldives.
Tubes for fun
Funny tubing is one of Maldives’ coolest things. In Eilat in Israel, I had tried it and I let you know it’s one experience filled with adrenaline.
It’s an intense laughing and yelling for 8 minutes. One of the most insane things in the Maldives must be the fun tubing. The romantic picture of the Paradise Archipelago is a million miles away, and yet so much is!
Even if you don’t think I fear heights (I didn’t think I was in Argentina after being zip) you are bound to take your breath away. The truth is.
You’ll have a speedy boat trip and the sail extended and you’ll go up into the air. It’s a wonderful 15 minutes. The first minute you will probably spend thinking it’s pretty cool. Then realize that the boat is too small down there. You might wish you didn’t look the way you did, and you’re going to have to close your eyes and breathe deeply.
When visiting the Maldives, diving is by far a must. If you don’t get a permit, only 12 meters deep are possible, but even then the marine life is absolutely wonderful – sharks, Adler rays, and many other species are visible.
Surfing and surfing
Some of the best waves in the world are in the Maldives. I haven’t tried to surf myself because waves seem to be for very advanced surfers. But many people go in search of waves in particular.
If you’re not able to surf, you can always try paddle stand-up, however: it’s fun. The water is very smooth, and there are corals and fish below! SUP is the perfect place for a fun sport and great views on the water, chilling and easy in the Maldives.
Fishing trips are usually arranged around sunset time by resorts and local islands. Before the sun goes down you will head out and see the views of the most amazing water. All the equipment you need for fishing then is provided and a great experience, since the waters are packed with fish and you are bound to catch a lot of fish.
Treatment with SPA
There is a spa treatment, among things to be done in the Maldives. Resorts like Adaaran Prestige Vadoo have a spa with lots of treatments, including Balinese massages. Facial and manicure treatments are other treatments.
Enjoy a beautiful sunset (or sunrise)
Nothing sounds romantic more than watching the sunset or the sunrise. It is well known to admire this special light towards the end of the day. One of Maldives’ most beautiful things.
I propose to do that from the dip in an overwater bungalow – most resorts in Maldives have it. The result is amazing. In the Maldives, this is what you have to do for a local experience. Head off by boat or watch it from the water directly!
Go to a bank of sand
In the Maldives, sandbanks are spread all over the place. They are unique places – literally a small island made entirely of white sand, surrounded by pristine clear waters and coral reefs. You must go by boat – captains usually know where to find them. You spend a few hours in a fun place. You can’t stand it longer because the sun is fierce and you can’t protect yourself from it.
Boats usually carry umbrellas or gazettes to create some shade on the beach. Put your head in a chape, wear a lot of high protective sunblock, and probably a t-shirt, so you’ll thank your shoulders. You’ll never have to hang out in the water.
If one thing in the Maldives is not missing, this is good food. Maldives cuisine tends to be pretty similar to Sri Lankan, yet an incredible range of international cuisine is available as well. Local food tends to focus high on fish, which are also served for breakfast literally. Many mild curries are also available.
The food is one of the most interesting things to do in the Maldives. From fresh tropical fruit to delicious fish and from grilled food to Japanese or Italian cuisine.
After lunch on the water
Speaking of food – you can only do something if there’s no wind and the tide allows it. But it’s a great experience if you manage it. In the water, you can eat with your foot and legs literally, as the shallow shores have a table (and a parachute for creating some much-needed shade). A delicious lunch is served in a fantastic atmosphere.
Tour of a local island
Not many visitors to the Maldives are visiting the local islands. Truly, it’s a pity. These are beautiful places that can be explored with nice sandy beaches (often separate from Muslim tourists and locals who do not wear bathrobes), small local cafes, mosques, schools, and friendly people. Make a point! Make it a point!
The capital of the Maldives is hardly a tourist destination, but you can make it a point if you are looking for an authentic local experience. The local fruit and veg market and the neighboring fish market are the most important places to visit. You can catch a great amount of action there and take a look at the main local products. I was intrigued especially by the unbelievable ability of fishermen to cut fish!
