A Beginner Guide For Buying Motorcycle Gear in 2021

If you have recently purchased a motorcycle or are about to do so, you also need to buy motorcycle gear. What should a beginner know before buying motorcycle gear?

If you have recently purchased a motorcycle or are about to do so, you also need to buy motorcycle gear. If you have recently purchased a motorcycle or are about to do so, you also need to buy motorcycle gear. To choose it correctly, answer a few questions:

  • Where will I go most often? In the city (to work, to ride with friends, on business), on the highway and on long-distance people, in tourist places, including off-road, or will I start right away with the track and extreme motorsport?
  • What is the fit of my bike or the models I like? This question can be looked at more broadly – what kind of ride is my bike designed for?
  • What time of year will I be driving? It is clear that not in severe frost. But for some motorcyclists, rain is not a hindrance, while others prefer to wait until the road is dry. If you are a beginner, we recommend the second option.
  • Is the gear just protection or is it also an element of my status? Are brands, aesthetics important to me? How do I want to look – stylish and casual or like a brutal biker?
  • How much money am I willing to spend on gear? Will I buy a complete set at once or will I buy everything gradually?

If you come to the consultant of our store with the answers to these questions, he will offer you the best outfit models to choose from. And it will be easier for you to “cut off” unnecessary things while surfing the Internet.

What gear is required?

As a road user, you should only wear a helmet. Without it, you will be fined by the traffic police. But the gear is not worn for the inspector but in order to preserve their own health.

Helmet

Formally, you may even have a helmet on (they are called “halves” or brain caps). But such models usually have problems with certification, they do not provide adequate protection. Slightly more reliable are “jets” – open helmets without a regular visor and chin protection.

When buying, consider:

Shoes

During accidents, the legs of the motorcyclist are the first to suffer. Therefore, we do not recommend riding in regular sneakers, even to the nearest store.

Required minimum protection:

  • Reinforced toe cap
  • High (at least like low shoes) boot for fixing the ankle

Even inexpensive motocross and moto shoes do this. They are great for city driving. They are comfortable to walk in, so you don’t have to carry removable shoes.

Gloves

They perform several functions at once:

  • Protect hands in case of falling
  • Keep fingers warm during the cool season
  • Provides good grip on the bike controls, even if your palms are foggy or wet in the rain

Over time, you will collect a considerable collection of gloves for different weather and mood. You can start with simple demi-season models with full finger protection. Pay attention to the anti-slip pads made of suede or polymer materials on the palms. And for use in the heat, choose lightweight textile models with mesh inserts.

Wearing a helmet, gloves and special shoes, you can already go to the test drive. Beginner bikers often buy all other items of gear gradually.
